He studied law and business administration in Bonn and Heidenheim. He began his professional career as an inhouse consultant for strategic planning at BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH. In 1999 he moved into politics and was in-house consultant and member of the strategic planning department of the CDU Germany. From December 2000 to January 2005 he was Chief of Staff of the CDU secretary general. In January 2005 he was named Director Strategic Planning and Strategic Communication of CDU Germany. In his last position, Joachim Koschnicke was Managing Partner of Forsa Gesellschaft für Sozialforschung und statistische Analyse mbH.

Thomas Kropp, born on 30 December 1952, is Head of Group International Relations and Government Affairs at Lufthansa since 2002.
After studying law and public affairs at the Universities of Bonn and Münster, Mr. Kropp finished his legal clerkship in 1985. Thereafter, he worked as a Senior Manager and Consultant at MSL-Saatchi & Saatchi in Düsseldorf, followed by an employment abroad as Director of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1991.
Mr. Kropp started his career at Lufthansa in 1995 as Head of the EU Liaison Office in Brussels. Since 2002 he is Head of Group International Relations and Government Affairs and reports directly to Lufthansa Group’s President and CEO Carsten Spohr.
Along with his position he is member of the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels. Furthermore he holds mandates for the Business Association for Latin America, the Berlin Tourismus and Kongress GmbH, the Transport Committee of the Federation of German Industry (BDI), the Advisory Board on Tourism of the German Government, the Advisory Board of the Cologne Institute for Economic Research and the Industry Affairs Committee of IATA. Mr. Kropp is married and has two daughters.
